I honestly think movies/shows with Rape/self-harm/suicide scenes need to have trigger warnings.
And the most annoying part is of all the movies I’ve seen the character is just SUDDENLY revealed to self harm and then go on a whole rant about how weak they are, and never recover from that or anything.
Especially in horror movies, there’s a difference between having a decently set-up characters that have struggles and just slapping on a mental illness just to be more edgy.
Really, unless the name of the movie is “Rape party in the Asylum 2: Bring your Razors” There’s no indication of if there will be triggering material.
And this isn’t me “Whining because I’m a little baby who cant take a little blood” I’m utterly in love with gore/horror movies and I’ve had a history of self-harm/suicide issues. Fake blood and cinematic murders don’t bother me, what bothers me is forcing unnecessary mental illnesses or placing the characters in non-consentual sexual situations without giving the proper warnings to those viewing.
Movies/ Television are already categorized by things like language and Nudity contained in it, why can’t they just add rape and self-harm?

Born in Dartford, Kent, in 1970, as a child Bray would apparently draw images of space travel, where he would depict himself and his friends visiting other Planets and Universes. As he grew older he began to explore a dark, egotistical fantasy world, which is still apparent in the work he makes today being influenced and inspired by a wide range of artists: from sculptor Allen Jones, comic artist Eric Stanton, erotic photography by Helmut Newton and Araki and paintings by Gustav Klimt, and Alberto Vargas.
